well i finally found one locally, complete engine 120k miles+ harness + accs and a hopefully 4l80e trans for $2300 sound like a good deal? anything to look for? or should i look for something cheaper? i know i see alot of them on Ebay for 1200-1500 with 200 shipping and no trans so it seems like this is right in line with what i would pay from ebay or something. any input?

If you buy it get everything they will give you including every bolt they remove, ask they don't cut any wires, hose or belts and give them all to you. For that price they should not cut anything and you should get every nut, bolt and wire they remove to get the engine and transmission out.

American pickup salvage In north east Arkansas . 870-236-8392 ask for Will . He sells on ebay also . He takes good care to see nothin you will need gets cut . He ships in a sealed crate and the stuff is top notch . I gave 2150.00 610000 miles(2003 5.3 with 4l60e) with paperwork shipped to my shop back in the spring . i'm in east ky I got it all from the ac pump ,alt,ps pump to the air filter and fuse box .

just picked it up today, she said they did a run test before they yanked it to make sure everything still worked, the only thing they cut were the radiator hoses that i can see, i'll look more tomorrow. only thing missing was the trans dustshield and the MAF but she said if i was missing anything to call and get her to get them for me. my poor truck was riding on the stops on the way home lol, engine + Trans + engine lift and stand haha

It seems the majority here are buying pull outs from salvage yards. Did everyone have the engine rebuilt? If so what did that cost you? If I do decide to go with a 6.0 swap the most logical choice to me is to buy a reman long block off ebay. Theres a company on there right now selling them for $2600. If everything from my 5.3 swaps over then thats all the cash I'm out. A few places here locally quoted almost $2200 just in labor to rebuild an engine, not including parts.
