I'm planning to do a ls1 swap into my truck. Is it worth the extra time and money to convert my 82 C-10 305/350 to a t-56 or try to find a 4l60e tranny? which would have better street manners and drivability, fun factor? also how much harder would the 6-speed be to install, I wouldnt think it would be that difficult.

    Thanks guys,

    Scott

The 5 speed was fun for a while but when I had to drive in traffic every day with it I longed for an automatic. Now it's automatics all the time due to my location. If it was a track only or weekend driver I think I would have stayed with a manual.

I agree. I have turned my truck into an all out project. 6 speed for me when I get the chance to yank the auto. You just cant have the fun with the auto that you can with a manual. However, if you are driving alot and in traffic, on your cell phone or eating in the vehicle alot then a manual really stinks. I bought a cheap awd auto subaru for my commuting and beating. Truck is for towing the boat, and having fun now.

If I was you I would do the 6 speed and buy a cheap beater auto. Plus if you can keep needless miles off your "fun" vehicle all the better!
