Painting intake and engine cover

I want to paint the engine cover and the intake on my 2004 LQ4. What can/should I use to smooth out the texture and what paint should I use? I want to use spray paint bc it is easier for me and would like it to look good, not looking for show quality.

i'm prepping my intake right now for paint. i started by sanding all the texture down with some 80 grit. next i'll spray it with some adhesion promoter & then shoot it with a good euro fill primer.
then sand again & possibly prime again till i get it nice & smooth. paint then clear.
