    Metal or plastic?

Are the chrome wheel skins on a 2010 Silverado steel wheel metal or plastic? I took a magnet to them and it's slightly attracted. Not sure if it's the skin or the steel wheel that's causing the attraction. I recently had new tires put on and then they removed the original wheel weights it lefts big dents and scratches on the skins. I personally like the look of the wheels, but I'm not a big fan of the damage from the weights.

They're a plastic coating that has a chrome plating. I think I saw somewhere on one of the forums where someone peeled it off and painted them black or gray.

I believe they are a cheap tin. I remember seeing ray pull the covers off and it was a pita!
They are glued on really well. The remaining glue is a pita to remove too

I found a few places online that have factory replicas that "snap on" that are made of ABS plastic. Thinking about going that route since the dealer wants around $60 each when the replicas are $75 for all four.

I believe they are some type of thin malable tin or something close.
Here is what i did to mine.

Once i had the cover off a simple orbital sander with 220 took the glue off effortlessly.
if you take a razor blade to the thick pieces of glue it takes it right off too.

The cops that drive gm vehicles around here have these wheels painted black with some very expensive center caps lol
