newb to site but not to the game 95 C1500 Sillverado intro/build thread.

Hi im checking in from South Florida. I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado C1500 ext cab stepside. This is truck my father gave me 2 years ago a month before he passed away. He made me promise not to sell it and to keep it. It was a truck in worst condition than the ones i would see at junkyards. The reason he made me promise is casue i would always sell the cars he got me when i would get tired of it and he would get pissed.

Anyways this truck has 266,xxx miles anbd was picked up from a junker that would buy junked cars.

I call it the "Junkyard Dog" it tooks me a whole 2 blocks down the road from where i bought it before it broke down on me. Been working on it ever since.

regardless of the high mileage i am under the impression the engine has been rebuilt or replaced. i did a compression check less than 5 thousand mils ago and it was 180 psi all accross the board. the transmission is a 4l60e which i also believe has been replaced or rebuilt becasue it takes all the abuse i give it. the rear end has been swapped out becasue i found the yellow paint marker writting on it that the junkyards do to identify their part. everything else on this truck has been replaced with new parts.

So far the list of stuff i have done to the truck are as follows.

    ext.

    powdercoated flat black bumpers
    black grill
    ss emblem
all new lights front and rear
    lower lip
    shaved antenna
    new mirrors
    step sides fibergalss reinforced
    flat black paint job

    int.

96 tahoe dash painted black with all a.c. vents thermal wrapped for optimum effiency
interior in the middle of being converted to all black
black carpet, black panels, black headliner... everything has been converted to black except for the center console and seats which i am looking for new ones to reupholster
alram and sound system i rather not get into detail about

    performance:

    All new braking system
whole new cooling system from hoses to heater cores, pumps, rad, all the way through
new timing chain and all new engine gaskets, rear main, front main, oil pan, timing cover, valve cover.
whole new ac system. all lines, evaportator, condensor, blower motor, compressor, have been replaced with new parts
    new external trans cooler
all new mounts for engine, trans, half shaft bushing
    optima battery
    hooker long tube headers,
new power steering pump, close ration circle track steering gear box, all new moog steering linkage with custom fitted g-body baer brakes bumpsteer adjustble heim joints tie rods.
    all new energy suspension bushings
    all new balljoints
belltech 2" drop spindles with 2" belltech drop springs
rear hotchkis 4 " drop leaf srpings with calvert racing traction bars
all 4 new belltech drop shocks
    new wheelbearings
all new msd ignition from coil, cap, rotor, to wires and plugs
c5 corvette wheels with dunlop tires

ive got a vortech blower i was going to put on and convert the fuel injection to multiport but with the money i was estimating to do it correctly and nice how i wanted i realized i should go with an LS1 or up swap

i did have to do some minor frame work to it. the driveshaft center bushing cross member was dented giving the truck a vibration. i plasma cut the rivets from the frame took it to a machine shop and got it straightened out level.

the rear leaf perch was cracked and i had to as well cut the rivets and replace it with a donor one and weld the bolts holding it on. works perfect.

all the work with the exception of the interior and the actual spraying of the paint was done by me.

This is what it looked like when i first got it

the only pics of the suspension work i have so far

future plans are an LS1 or up swap with a auto trans. posi diff and install my b-body rear disk brakes, master cylinder, proportining valve, set up and upgrade the front calipers to dual piston lighter ssbc calipers.

thanks for looking. i guess my joining here was to get a heads up on all involved to do a ls swap into my truck.

id also would like to find brake upgrades for this truck that utilizes the stock spndle since i just put new belltech ones.

i will update this thread and my progress continues

thanks guys. at this moment im installing the headers, and tightening up the front suspension.

im also in the middle of wiring in the alram and the system. im waiting on my electric fans to get here so i can wire them in.

i would like to get the tbi rebuilt and change out the fuel level sender since it doesnt mark right.

im trying to find a newer set of siverado seat like the ones with the seatblet integrated into the seats.

my seats are coming apart at the frame so i can fix them. my seats will be done in black leather with red stitching and i plan on putting the ss style chevy badge embroidered on the back rest part of the seats.

from there i plan on rhino lining the bed and getting a roll n lock.

this truck is going to be used to travel throughout united states while i work on the road. therefore hopefully within the next 4-5 months i will be buying a ls1 or up swap for the truck and hopefully get that done.

that would pretty much conclude my build for the meantime so ican get started on my 48 plymouth and drive this around instead of getting a new truck.
