    Sub/Amp Problem!!

    hello fellas
recently i have been finding that my sub cuts out everynow and then and wont come back on unless i increase the volume and turn it back down....lately within the last few days, when it goes out i turn it up and it goes on...then upon turning it back down so that the volume is bearable the sub turns off again....i had just replaced my head unit from my pioneer avec d1 to a new kenwood 9160...it was also doin that before the switch also....while it cuts out the amp is still powered and ON and same with the CAP...just no thump....until i turn up the volume.....any ideas?

    thank you

Check the sub wires inside your box or last thing I could think of is the sub amp RCAs could have a short.

It is most definitely a wiring issue.

I had the same issue except it was my amp. I replaced the amp and now my system works great. See if your amp is in protection mode next time that happens if u can't find a wiring issue.

I had the same issue a few years ago...took the amp to Rockford and they looked it over, decided that there was an internal problem and gave me an updated BD1000.1(the current amp I have). Havent had a problem since then.

How hot is the amp getting? I would check the ohms with a multimeter and make sure there is not a blown voice-coil.
