    60e to 80e in 1500 4x4

Recently acquired 99 lq4. I have two options, buy a hella expensive torque converter to match to my 4l60e, or install a 4l80e. I already know that will require a modified trans crossmember, would it also be pushing my transfer case towards the rear, causing me to have to alter driveshaft lenghts?

Contact CircleD, they can build you a convertor to match them together for not a whole lot of money unless you're wanting to go to a billet convertor. Hell, for $900 you can get a precision Industries billet stall convertor. That will be a lot cheaper than swapping out the transfer case and all. What year truck is this going on?

2004 Z71 xcab. Except for a mild cam and tune this motor is going to be pretty stock. I want to go with the most effective option. I'd really like to build up a 4l60e and get a converter to mate them up, but I would like to first inquire with more knowledgeable folk.

undo. revised. get a standard crank to swap into it or get the custom convertor.

see I swear I read that 99-00 LQ4 had longer crankshafts and would not fit to a 4l60e.

Is this an iron head engine?

I believe it is. I had work today when it was dropped off and didn't get a ton of time to look it over. Just a basic 99 LQ4 from what I can tell, would a picture help?

Edit: specs say only 2000 model LQ4s had iron heads, this is a 99 1/2.

it might. Surely they can build you a custom convertor for around $300. Adapter convertors are all over the place. My 80e convertor was built to mate to an LS1, the trans was originally from a SBC.

just get a 6L crank out of a 2001+ and swap them out with new bearings, put some ARP rod bolts in while you're at it.
