    question about leaking diff.

so a few days ago I noticed gear oil leaking from the front of my differential. Thinking it might be the pinion seal I replaced it. Went a few days with no leaks then this morning I noticed a decent amount of oil on the street. It looks like its coming from the same area. Everythinglooked good when I took the old one off so I'm not sure what it could be. Any suggestions on what to inspect now?

Had the same thing happen to my brothers truck last week. We installed a new R&P and used the seal that was in the kit. lasted a week and then had a small leak. Took it out and called "the rear end shop" and he said there was a change in the seal design, the old seal would actually grab on the yoke and fold. When removed you could see the folded spot. We installed a new timkin seal and have had no problems so far.

The seal I got at the store was a mogul so I might try the timken if I can find it. When I pulled the yoke there was a small circumfrential groove where it looked like the seal was supposed to seat. Is that supposed to be there?
