The difference between winning and losing, is having a 2nd stage.
The thumper cams are great IF you just want sound, which is what you're after. But chances are you are like the rest of us and can't stop. Bet that truck started with a small static drop then went down a bit more and now it's bagged. You'll get addicted to making it quicker, and the Thumper will be a hurtle. There are plenty of cams that sound just as good but perform 10x better. Go for the one Garrison suggested, his truck is a mean SOUNDING s.o.b.![]()

heres mine when i had the 4.8 and Thumper cam..it did not perform that well like stated but i was lacking a stall and gears at the time...if it was me ide get a 216/220 for that 4.8
When your looking at cams everybody automatically thinks lsa is where you'll get the choppy sound. Not necessarily all the time. Centerline has a lot to do with it. And the cheater v3 that quoted previously sounds super awesome in a 4.8. In a small cube motor you deffinately do not want to go with alot of overlap cause you'll start losing cylinder pressure which in result is less torque and a 4.8 does not need to lose any more torque. Like I said call thunder they will give you exactly what your looking for.

If you want a cam that performs well and sounds good check out the Vinci cams. I have a 216/224 .551/.551 in my LS1 and the thing sounds like a much bigger cam. It lopes more than the 228R my cousin had in his LS1. It's also very strong in the low-mid rpm levels. This cam would kill in a 4.8. Don't go too big or you will regret it...

Thanks for all the replies guys, i know it sucks having the 4.8, but like i said it is a show truck i dont do any racing, just want something for when im cruising around in shows, and showing off in town so that it will have a nice choppy idle and sound mean as hell. I plan on getting a k&n intake, and for exhaust i was thinking about getting the pace setter long tubes, deleting the cats, only thing im confused on is the exhaust from the headers back i was thinking straight pipes into dual flomaster 40's but i hear these trucks lose alot of power with straight pipes, is that true??
also is there any cam that would sound great and not require a stall??
If you don't stall it with something choppy your truck will probably hump the road when driving slow.
If you're planning on doing pacesetter long tubes and it's a show truck you'll probably want to take them in and have a nicer coating put on them. The crap that comes on em flakes off after about 10 minutes.
