    converter to flywheel gap?

i was putting my new trans. in and i dont remember their being a gap between the converter and flywheel (with the old converter & trans) when the trans. is butted and bolted to the block, when i bolted the converter to the flywheel it pulled the converter maby 1/8'' away from the trans, is this normal, do i need shims, or am i just crazy?
it just didnt seem right that their was a gap and i dont remember what i did yesterday and the last trans. swap i did on my truck was 9 months ago. thanks in advance.

thanks, i wonder if thats why my trans shifts like crap now? im pretty sure performabuilt fixed my trans and sent me a new torque converter, before i sent it in it shifted great and now it shifts like my stock trans with a vette servo and now it pulses at a steady thorottle.
