I think my fuel pump just took a dump on me Help me choose a new 1

Last week when I wanted to start my truck and it didn't fire up. Got a hammer hit the tank and wala it fired right up. Today it did it again and hitting it didn't fix it. I replaced the pump in my brothers truck a few months ago and I'm wondering if there is an alternative to dropping $300 on a new ac delco unit.
I did a search on this site and couldn't find what I was looking for. This is not a race truck so a tune and minor bolt ons is as far as it will ever go, so I dont need a high flow one. I thought about gutting the stock unit and putting in a replacement as I read about somewhere, but I cant find the page. Any sugestion or links to an article will be apreciated.

I looked at racetronix's site and was wondering if I should just get this http://www.racetronix.biz/itemdesc.a...PM-007&eq=&Tp= or if I should buy their harness and a walbro pump?
I only want to do this 1nce because im planing to keep it for awhile
