    Chip Swap????

My buddy has a 01 Silverado with the 8.1 in it. He put a programmable chip on it to increase hp and gas mileage. He claims that it can be unprogramed and moved to another truck, and that your actually suppose to unprogram it before you have any work done on it from your dealer.

He is selling his truck and said he would give the chip to me if I wanted it. Will it work on a 02 Silverado with a 6.0

    Any comments would help.

BTW if any is looking for a 4 door silverado with the 8.1 in ohio 4wd make a offer

Haven't used chips since 95, you are talking about a handheld programmer. You need to know the brand to know whether it is compatible.

Most of all the handheld tuners are vin locked once you install it on a truck so if you get the tuner stolen all you can do is have the pcm reset and clear everything and its useless or if you sell the the tuner without removing it the from the previous truck its still vin locked on that truck and is useless..that just my experience ive had with them in the past. You might as well just buy a custom tune instead of wasting time on a handheld you'll be much more pleased, thats just my 2 cents.

It is a programmer, not a chip.. It will not work on your truck I do not believe..

Just go to the nearest tuner and see what they can do for you.
