5.3 Rebuild kits people on here have used? and Build sugestions

Was going to go with a LY6 and swap it in but i dont realy have the time as im deploying after xmas. I got a 5.3 block here im gonna do a quick over haul on new pistons rings bearings ect.

I want to bore it .20 over and im gonna do a quick light port job on the heads and get the seats done at my buddies shop.

What kits do you guys recommend ?

Im just looking at doing a small cam. long tube headers and exhaust and HP Tunner ecu. Also will be using a Maddog trans for this build.

Im just looking for a better pulling motor good on gas.

    Thanks guys

You might be better off going .100 over and doing a clean up bore for an ls1 to make it a 5.7L. .100 over might sound crazy to you but there are a lot more piston choices for that bore. I forgot what the rod length is.

rod length would be normal 6.125 if you want forged stuff or just stick in stock ls1 pistons and rods.

No this truck is a daily driver and hauler i dont want to build this motor so stock rods and OEM replacement parts and i want to be able to run pump gas 87 octane.

Is there a piston compression calculator somewhere?

Your gonna have to punch it .100 over use stock rods and get some stock LS1 pistons...

If it comes out to stock LS1 bore, there will be absolutely ZERO issue. A ton of people have done it. It's called an IRON LS1. IIRC, Blown06 has one. An iron 383 is built very similarly.
