    oil smell

So I replaced my valve seals and changed my oil. My crankcase is vented to atmo (filters on the valve covers). My question is, should I be smelling a little gas in my oil or not? I'm thinking it's just blow-by when the engine is cold especially since I don't pull any vacuum on the crankcase. Am I on the right track?

its prob blow by pass the rings...its never good to have gas in your oil tho. maybe try turning down boost a lil bit? could be an injector leaking/bad injector o-ring too

i normally run low boost (6 psi) and occasionally hi boost (about 13psi). My compression is good too. I only smell a tiny bit of gas in the oil but then again it might be residual fumes since I just replaced my valve seals.

long as you dont see/smell the gas on the dip stick or the oil level go up i wouldn't worry about it

Good to know, thanks. My AFR stays around 11.0 at WOT but I have had instances where it got below 10.0.

11.0 afr is pig rich for 7psi. I shoot for 11.5-11.7 for under 10 psi. 10-14 around 11.5-11.3 and 15+ psi 11.2-11.0 afr

you can easily be to rich just as you can be to lean and hurt a setup. Its not always about the whole saying it doesnt gain that much more if i richen it up, its the fact that your safer for bearings/oil being a little leaner

something to think about on E85 your oil stays clean unlike gas where it gets past the rings
