    Nevermind, . The seals don't have bases to them.

    The later heads do have the seal and the spring seat made together. You can't use that type with dual springs though.

    I pulled the valve springs off and no surprise to me, the seals were not exactly "all the way" down. Some of them actually floated up on the valve stems. I took the springs off the new seals, slid them down the valve stems, hammered them down with a 3/8" drive deep socket, reinstalled the valve seal springs, then put the valve springs back on. I gotta say tho, it was a much easier process with all the car club guys BS'ing and helping me out. Only time will tell if my oil consumption issue is over. I just hope that the next time I check the oil, it won't be lower than what it was a week earlier.
