    Opinions?

So here's the deal. I've got a 500w RMS max sub w/ dual 4ohm VCs and a monoblock that puts out 600rms at 2ohms and 400rms at 4ohms. Right now I have the sub wired in series for 8ohms. I'm just wondering, how do you audio freaks suggest wiring the sub, for maximum bass, while not losing ALL of the bass quality????

Well what you are lookin for is how much THD(total harmonic distortion) is increased from 4ohm load to 2 ohm load to 1 ohm load. Taking a wild guess but sounds like a you may have an Alpine set up? Cause thats exactly what my numbers come out to be. Im running 2ohm load, or wire the 4 ohm sub voice coils parallel, and its fine. Some amps you wanna keep it at 4 ohm load to keep the bass cleaner, but it depends on the amp really. Alpine amps THD doesn't change from 4 ohm to 2 ohm.

Wire the sub to the lowest OHM possible on that amp... Subs quality isn't in the amp so much as the box and tuning. Then set the gains correctly and you should have no problems at all.
