I wouldn't run any speakers in the rear. Spend the money on a nicer set of components instead. Bridge your 4 channel for the front components or bi-amplify the components using all 4 channels.
agreed. get a nice set of components (Diamond Audio, JL Audio, MB Quart), and forget the rears. You more than likely won't notice them gone.

    Ditto on ditching the rears

I actually just put a set of Alpine Type R 6.5's in my Blazer...I'm in LOVE. Million times better then my old Pioneers, which were a million times better then stock.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum

I still have my rears with some added tweeters and can fade them in and out and tell a difference, meaning I can still hear them. I like hearing the music around me instead of in front of me. Just sayin with the added amp and good speakers, you can hear them.

You can hear them, that's the point of getting rid of them. They are mucking up the fronts.

I hear my rears too, I'm only 5'10" but I G-ride so my head is usually even with my b-pillar. I will be adding a set of the same Diamond components in the rear doors just to have them back there so I have better sound(maybe), but I don't feel they are absolutely necessary given the price of a set of good components. I do sometimes like to say: go all out or go home.....

Yeah they aren't in the best spot but at least for me Im ok with them. I know some have even cut the speaker opening bigger to where a pair of 5x7's could mount in there.

I've done many pairs of 6.5's only issue is mounting depth, 4x6's (or any oval in my opinion) is a waste. The only 4x6 I've ever liked are the plate type that have a 4" round and a tweeter.

Probably not unless you are using 4g to each from a 1/0 and distribution block or 4g each from the battery. The 400 would probably be okay on good 8g.
