I'm wanting to swap to a 6.0 within the next couple weeks/months. I'm not sure what the simplest option would be. Should I buy the stock longblock. Then add Patriot Stage II heads + ???cam and go? Or should I buy a shortblock, add ARP bolts, forged pistons, then heads and cam? I guess the question I have is, do I need to get ARP bolts/forged pistons put on? Can I get by with the stock shortblock? I may spray occasionally (no more than 100shot). But mostly I just want a ride that hauls ass on a moderate budget. I already have LT headers + exhaust, an air intake, and a Nelson tune. Thanks.

Get you a good 6L and just swap it in and be done. The stock shortblock will hold up just fine. Later when you need power, you can add the cam and heads. That will keep the initial cost down considerably.

good luck and keep us updated,

I think I will just do that. I just figured it'd be less expensive if I did the big mods first rather than when the motor is in the truck. I also wanted to feel a dramatic difference in my truck after the swap. I will try to con my wife into funding atleast a cam swap for me. What cam would you recommend? I plan on running the Patriot Stage II LQ9 heads when I can afford them. And I don't/won't do any towing. Thanks.

I would do as much modding of the engine before the swap as you can afford. Gaskets for a Gen3 engine will drain your bank account if you have to go into more than once. That or just leave it stock and run the dog out of it until you're ready to get serious with it and can afford to drop the big bucks in for the performance mods. A stock 6L is gonna run really good with a little spray.

Wasn't sure what you meant by that, it means a lot of different things to us lol.

Yes doing the cam install will save a lot of time.
    I'd go with a 224/228 . .583 114.

    DO IT!
