IM a turbo guy, I know nothing about the inside of a 4l60E.
I need to know how to replace the shift solenoid's. I was told just drop the pan and there they are. There has to be more to it, right.

IM still setting a 753 code and the truck is taking off in 2nd. But hay, it still spins the tire taking off in 2nd 1st gear is going to be a hand full. IM one wheeling it w/ 3.08 and crapy tire's.

How much tranny fuild should I plan on losing.

Drop the pan and you'll see all the shift soleniods, they are very easy to change out.

Double check your shift linkage first. Shift it manually if you must. If your linkage is set wrong and has selected 2nd it will take off in 2nd. That's just how the transmissions are these days. Like Allen said, drop the pan and there they are. You'll need needle noses or a small flat blade screw driver to pull the hair-pin retainer that holds them in place. Unplug the connector, pull the pin and be careful that nothing comes out of the bore other than the solenoid and a little fluid.

Yep, that's how they work. Select 1st, takes off in 1st. Select 2nd, takes off in 2nd. Select 3rd or drive and it should take off in 1st. Select OD, it takes off in 1st and the computer shifts all ranges.

The shift solenoids are located at the rear of the valve body, 1-2 is the drivers side. I assume you have tried commanding it on and off manualy or confirmed the resistance is out of range. Anything is possable but usualy with P0753 the 1-2 ss is the last thing you would expect. Hope you get it sorted out

Yeah, it says that in the owner's manual. It says if conditions are slick you should do this to control the takeoff better by starting in a higher gear. I never have and probably never will use this, there's nothing wrong with a little spinnage!
2003 Arrival Blue Silverado SS.....I just can't leave $hit alone.
