    gears or cam

i recent installed a new edelbrock intake, had heads ported, new cam, cold air intake, headers, true duals on my 06 5.3L! 06 crew cab engine makeover - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network
we dyno tuned it this weekend and got 384 hp and 345 on the torque. Im running 22 in wheels. It runs good on top end but has no pulling power or nothing out of take off. I have 3.42 gears. my dyno guy said he would start with a shorter gear prior to changing cam. Do you guys think a 4:10 would be geared to low or do you have any other suggestions.

4.10s would be a good start. Heavy truck and likely some tall tires so you might even consider a 4.30 or 4.56

Before you randomly start throwing parts at your problem, tell us more about your setup - the cam you installed, the stall speed of your converter, etc.

Cam specs matter... but really dont... you just moved your power band up with the camshaft... and you need gear to help pull the rpms.. and get it up quick...
