    i wasnt talking in terms of max wattage i was explaining the rms and max on that sub but i think that ported boxes sound like junk just my opinion. i go sealed every time.

    You have probably never heard one turned correctly.

    #1) Caps are bandaids for big electrical problems. Ditch it.
    #2) The Alpine X isn't meant to be super loud. It is intended as more of a SQ sub.
    #3) A properly built box can get anything to sound good.

    +1 A ported box has much quicker response and usually the lower the tuning frequency the higher the SQ. I like mine around 28-32 HZ. Do set your subsonic filter (if that amp has one) to slightly lower than your tuning frequency so the subs wont suffer. And if you have access to an oscilliscope use that to set your gain for minimum clipping using a tone cd. Clipping is alot more audible in a ported box i think
