Because when you turn the exhaust pipes toward the ground it blows dust everywhere when the car is running. All over your car, all over you, on the wheels, on the cars next to you.

If you have a nice car with nice wheels and paint, exhaust pipes turned toward the ground is a big mistake. But for some reason people still do it.

Thats the reason I run mine straight after the muffler. My driveway is gravel and it's terrible starting my sister's truck with turndowns. I just slapped the muffler on and left it alone. Nothing after the muffler.

I've ran turn downs on severial cars and trucks. I think people over exagerate dust blowing wayy to much. Unless your on a dirt road it's no big deal. My camaro has turn downs on it now and it's not bad at all. And people still do the turn downs because it echoes off the ground back to the bottom of your truck which some say makes it louder
