    LS1 Heads on 5.3

Is there any gains to be found with putting a set of near stock 99 LS1 heads on a 5.3? My friends got a set of heads with some nice springs for cheap, and I didn't know if it would be worth throwing them on my 04 ECSB. Anyone know?

I'm not too worried about that, I can have the heads milled for dirt cheap.

Doesn’t the ls1 heads have a 2.0 intake valve? I’m 99% sure with out looking at specs that that is bigger then the stock 5.3 intake valve. with some milling to bring back CR to stock I would think you would gain power just because of the bigger intake valve.

find, i think 241 heads, of the 01-02 f body. i was given that advise and thats what im doing. they supposedly flow like the 243 everyone wants and are around 150 bucks on craigslist usually

The flow numbers for the 241/853 heads stock, are almost the exact same numbers that the 862s put out.

    ^^^ what he said!

I would keep the 862's and maybe even port and polish them a little. No reason to mess with something that works just fine.

Now if you go with the 243s or the 317's they flow better but drop CR. So milling would definately be needed
