my steering shaft is wore out and rattling, so my question is will a autozone doorman or ebay shaft fail quick? also do i need more than just the Intermediate Steering Shaft? ive heard people talk about other brands but $ is gonna be short until the guy buying my boat comes through and the rattle is gonna put me in the psych ward if i dont get it fixed. thanks in advance.

Look at the Dorman one first before you but it. GM's redesigned one uses a metal u-joint instead of a rubber coupler, like the ones that would fail.
GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT RICER MATH!

The GM one is a permanent repair if produced after November 2006. It's less than $100 full retail.
We tried the Dorman shaft here at my shop, would NOT fit.
Typical Chinese knock-off junk.
Some of the Dorman replacement stuff is good, but not the GM steering shafts.

I used the Borgeson Shaft, well made and fit perfect! Cost in the 300.00 dollar range, but I still have the knock though a really nice piece for Borgeson and well made (top shelf) = my 2 cents.
P.S. I used the GM Part # and because I had the knock still I went and picked up the Borgeson shaft. Laying them next to each other they are apples and oranges. The Gm shaft looked like the knock off - gave it away and my buddy used it and did work fine. I just have a problem I can't find......
