    rear diff change out help..

    Im changing out my rear diff on a 2001 Z71. I got the keeper pin and the big pin out, but cant figure out how to get the axles out. If there is already a thread about this please foward it, if not could I get some step by steps on how to...

    remove pin lock screw thing, remove pin, Rotate the carrier until you see the block in the middle betwene the axles, pull this out, then push the axles in and using a magnet remove the c clips (they might just fall out) pull out axles

    if you have a G80, remove the crosspin, roll the carrier around and there is an access hole you can pull the retainer c-clips that are inside the carrier on the ends of the axle. You have to shove or knock the axles inwards to get to the c-clips. You do have the wheels off and all, correct? If so, take a heavy rubber hammer and knock the axles inwards.

    I do have the tires off. The rotars off.. just couldnt figure out how to get the axles out.. I sure appreciat it.. Dont know what i would do without the internet..

    Sometimes you have to take a pry bar and stick it on the c-clip groove and pry it towards you, but thats usually in an aftermarket limited slip application..
