    Advice!! 4L60 vs. 4L65?

I've got a truck that I'm going to be using as a daily driver that weighs about 3k and will have around 450 horse. I have a 3600 stall as well (may switch to smaller stall eventually). Now, I have a 4L65 that is a 4x4 tranny that I'm going to convert to be 2wd. However, I have a buddy who needs a 4x4 tranny but has a 2wd 4L60. He would give me his 2wd tranny plus $100 for my 4L65. Both transmissions have 15k on them. Am I going to blow up the 65 just as fast as the 60? Or is it worth it to keep my 65? Labor is not an issue, both trannys are out right now. Opinions Please!!!

The output shaft isn't really that hard to change. I would keep the 65 for the $100 difference. Course you will have more if you have to buy a shaft and then a small amount in gaskets and o-rings.

The only difference between the 60 and 65 is the 65 is a 5 pinion planetary and the 60 is a 4 pinion.

It also has a bearing type sun gear reaction shell. Although I think the later 4L60e's all got that too.

I'm not going to get an 80e because it's just a daily driver and I really don't plan on beatin the piss out of this thing. If the 65 is significantly better than the 60 I'll keep it, but if it's just about the same I'll go with the 60. How about if I pose this question.. On a scale of 1 to 10, if a 60 were a 1 and the 80 being a 10, where would a 65 fall?

    And for your responses!!
