    ticking or clunking?

    lastnight while startin my truck to come home......i fired up and heard a clunkin...after bout 10secs it went away...i figured that the oil hadnt reached the head yet...checked the oil this morning and it was a lil low...but not majorly low...am in that realm?.....

    These engines are all notorious for developing a lazy lifter. For some reason they don't pump up right away. Is that what you're hearing?

    thats where it sounds like its coming from....if i turn the truck off and staret while still hot or warm it wont do it....this morning it didnt do it...but ive heard it in the past...just was wonderin is all...didnt wanna destroy my engine...

    mine does the same thing, only when its cold tho....whats a easy fix?

    Its piston slap....just drive it.

    mine does it too, though when it first starts its nice and quiet for about 30 seconds, then it starts knockin

    i have the same problem, starts fine, knocks for a few moments and than stops.

    knocking i'm fine with, its the clack clack bang, and finally the broken rod taking out my oil pan then tire and sending me into a ditch.. thats the part i worry about

    that would not be good. but would be a good reason for some upgrades.
