    Hilborn Style Intakes

    I know most people hate the look of GMs composite intakes found on practically everything these days. So i wanted to shed some light on a not so often sought after intake style. This is the ''Hilborn'' style intakes made popular in the 40s with the advent of the ratrod. Its comprised of individual carburetors for each intake runner on an internal combustion gasoline engine.
    This could also be done on a diesel though it wouldn't be very advantageous.

    Personally i love the look of the mechanical assemblies bolted on top of an engine with all the bell-cranks, linkages, injectors and everything else all thrown together but somehow its all artfully placed and works in perfect unison. They even have a very unique sound.

    I only know of two companies that make these intakes. One being Harrop Engineering and the other being Hilborn.

    If you guys happen across any companies either developing or producing these intakes, post it up here so those that are interest can have a look.

    they start around 2800 and go up from there, the extrudabody kits are modular kits and parts are really easy to replace and easy to get from the factory, the Harrop manifold is documented making 40hp over the LS6 manifold. but frankly, with an open runner and no plenum to speak of, no wonder, on top of all that, with velocity stacks you can tune your runner length to fit your rpm range and build an awesome air delivery system tailored to your cam and heads
