Thread: 4l80e no shift (limp mode?)

    Thanks- I'll give Nelson a call in the morning.

    Pics! Clearly there is some bodywork/painting to do. And the toyota mini-truck seat needs to be reupholstered. Lots of stuff left to do; just want to get it driving right!

    do you have both vss signa wires hooked up? if not it wont shift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes - both input and output speed sensors are hooked up. In addition both of the actual sensors have been replaced with with new NAPA units.

    ** edit: that dangling gray wire on the bellhousing is from a speed sensor on the NP205... not using it right now.

    the 80e has two speedo sensors. if either one isnt hooked up its not going to work. The pcm has to see both signals if youre not using the speed sensor from the old tranny it will also cause a issue

    Right, sorry if I was confusing. Both (2) speed sensors from the 4l80e are hooked up into the wiring harness going into the computer. That gray wire is from the NP205 transfer case, it doesn't really play into the equation. There is no old tranny here.

    these E trannys fail into second so you can move the truck incase a electrical failure and have enough RPM range to drive on highway.

    if all wiring is 100% correct then its the OS causing your issue
