    Rear End Noise?

I have a 99 z71 silverado, stock gears, when i hit the gas and spin the tires, either on or off road, the rear end makes a clicking/shuttering noise that is pretty loud. Is this normal or should i start looking for a new rear end? and would changing the gear oil over to synthetic help at all? the noise doesnt sound good. thanks for the help.

Sounds to me like your pin is getting ready to come throught the cover. Take the cover off and inspect it.

Metal shavings.....check to see if the pin is secure and still in place.

If you have the G80, that noise is normal. I was scared when mine first made noise, but its just the diff locking/unlocking.

Look for G80 in the glove box, in the rpo codes.
