    pyrometer install question??

hey guys im gonna put my pyrometer in tomorrow and was wondering where the probe should be mounted? i know on most turbo vehicles the probe is about 2 -3 inches from the turbo exhuast inlet/outlet,but was wondering with the STS setup on my truck?

On a FMT, it is to go on the manifold, just before the flange of the turbo. But since you have an STS, I would go ahead and tap it just before the turbo. Yes--waaaaaaay back there. The purpose of the pyrometer is to monitor EGTs at the turbo. Since it is an STS truck, I would still mount it back at the turbo, versus up at the manifold.

Make sure to have a vacuum on and have the truck running when drilling and tapping for the pyrometer.

#7 in the manifold....... You monitor EGT to keep from melting pistons ... not Hotparts and turbos....

I'd like to see a probe in each cylinder, just to put a number to the dreadful number 7
