my dads duramax is running with just the cats and no muffler. would this affect mileage? should he go with muffler and no cats or put a muffler back on with the cat? hes 53years old and drives like it lol he wants the best mpg he can get.

x2! The turbo provides all the back pressure he needs. 4" straight pipe or straight thru muffler would be ideal. When I had my 07 LBZ I just cut off the cat & muffler & welded in pipe & it was'nt that loud. On a turbo'd engine the less restriction, the better.Originally Posted by MYSHTBX
