    4.8 to 6.0

i was looking to do a swap in my 2000 gmc silverado. its got a 4.8 auto in it now but wanting more towing power, so im looking to do a 6.0 in it. i was wondering if anyone can help? the truck is a 00 and the motor is a 02 6.0
someone is saying all i have to do is install the engine (because its the same except the dispacement)and get the computer reflashed. is that true?
i was going to use the 4.8 harness and computer then reflash it for the 6.0
if there is someone out there who can help me i would really appreciate it!!!

long blocks & accessories are a direct swap

you're new, so i'll just let you know before somebody comes flaming you...
this is all over the place on this forum. just type it in the "search" at the top-right or look under the engine swap section

ps - if you plan on putting it through it's paces, you might wanna look into beefing up your transmission

depends on how you drive it... i hear crap all the time about how weak the NV3500 is, yet dodge used it in their 2500LD trucks and some people have done 6.0, 454, & even 8.1 swaps with them & been fine.

Some nv3500s are different.....I believe I heard Devin say the dodge ones are stronger.

some V8 dakotas used the NV3500HD which was a little stronger, but the rest used the same trans - just with a different bolt pattern & different input/output shafts

OP has a 4l60e not a NV. OP should look into a 4l80e. Trucks, lots of power, and the 60e usually dont mix well. read this.

whats your plans for the truck? any power adders? and modifications to make it faster?

if its gonna stay stock, get a servo and shift kit for the 60e and a deep ptranny pan and tranny cooler, it will hold up just fine, maybe not for ever but for awhile, anyway long enough to save money for a built tranny youre in NO power band for a 4l80e swap, i have almost 500 rwhp going through my 60E and havent had a single issue, it was built by performabuilt, FLT is a sponser here i would talk to them about a built tranny when the time comes.
