    4.8 performance upgrade info

Hey yall, I need some ideas for a performance upgrade for my 4.8, it is in a non emission vehicle, dont want turbo/bottles or anything like that. What cam? etc, I need to open it up anyway, broken exhaust bolt on both heads. Ideas are always appreciated.

, ported heads, cam in the 23x/23x is all I would go IMO. LT headers, 3500 stall, 410 gears, locker, arp rod bolts. You will end up having a high revving 4.8 that makes more power than torque. It will be hard to break 400whp though. In fact, Im sure someone will correct me if Im wrong, But I dont know that there has been a 4.8 to break 400whp NA.

    I really appreciate it guys!

I dont want 400rwhp, well OK I do, but that isnt my real purpose....OK It is. Darn I just cant get away from this lying.

For real. I dont want a truck that can beat a vette, I just wanted to know what could give a bit more power to my swap, since I am taking it apart now anyway. I put the 4.8 in cuz it was a low mileage motor and trans package, I needed both really, and it would improve my fuel mileage a bunch too. But most importantly, this swap will only be costing me around $1200. with tune, harness, mounts, drive shaft, fuel pump and everything. Well, this is before I take it apart for the stud extraction, I tried the conventional ways, now gotta jerk the heads off, might as well get rebuilt ones while I am there huh?

well if you just want a little more power, and still be on the tame side, get a smaller cam, and stall. like a 3k rpm. and I meant dont go any bigger than a 23x cam. Honestly I did the 4.8 thing and with stock heads I got about 325whp. Figure another 20-30whp for heads. thats about it for the little guy. With a turbo though, Quik hit high 600's whp. with a 4.8.
