calling all c10 ls swap guys!

    hey guys,

so i talked to BRP Hotrods today BRP Muscle Rods Your LS1 - LSX Conversion Kit Specialist and they cant say for sure their mount kit will allow me to run the stock a/c compressor in the factory location on a 2002 caddy lq9. and he went on to say that if i use adaptor plates(not theirs) theres a 98% chance their headers wont work! what the hell?? they just missed out on over a thousand dollar ring today. he wants me to mail my compressor over with the lines and he could test fit them. he also went on to say that i'd have to modify the compressor fitting flange and weld in a new one located towards the top?? (idunno)

anyways, whats the point of spending $500 on something that i can get for $50(plates) and turn around and have to get a top mount a/c bracket in the end? i'm frustrated right now... i have the lq9/4l80e ready to set in the freshly rebuilt chassis (78 2wd swb) and now i dont know if the mounts from brp are gonna work.

has anyone run the BRP mount kit with the factory a/c???

    thanks, Dennis

Im not sure about your a/c issue but i dont see how those engine plates/mounts would have any ill efect on using there headers.

That trans cross member looks like total crap. Kit is not worth it imo. Just use the stock cross member and re-drill your frame for the new position. I dont think the a/c comp will fit with out modifying the frame with a notch and plated back in.

right on guys, thank you. thats the plan... just get a top mount a/c and use the plates now.

what did you guys use for headers?

Thanks! I used Street & Performance mid length headers that are specific to swapping an Ls1 into 73-87 trucks. I have heard of people using camaro full length headers but I dont know which ones. I needed my exhaust to be above the bottom of the frame.

Again I went with Street & Performance but Kwik Performance has some that look almost factory for cheaper. Here is the link to my truck if you have not seen it yet. http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/pics-...y-project.html
