thanks for clearing that bit of confusion up for me. im more than likely going to start attempting this swap over in the next couple of days but i am curious to how long does something like this take lol. i will be updating with each step i take also i will be taking plenty of pics and when possible video the process too. i really dont understand all the differences betweeen motors nor do i know jack squat about the gens and all that good stuff. i know how to do your typical turn a wrench there turn a wrench here and thats about it my extent of working on a vehicle before i installed the 5.7 without guys like yall was chAnge oil spark plugs and couple more minor things. but i can read so any of yall got some tips pointers or wanna throw something out there by all means do. before i up and buy a motor i would like to know which one will best suit my needs. the lq4 or the lq9? i know the 9 has more horse puts out more torque than the 4. this truck does go offroad its not for looks so i want whichever as it sits ill be satisfied with for a minute because everything has to be changed eventually stock gets boring. either of those motors bolt to the 80e which is the tranny ill be using so no issue there. i havent had a chance to view those links yet but im sure there is mods or add ons to make this motor go in and mount and work so if anyone has happened to do this swap id be very grateful if yall threw a list of parts and what not i have to order. oh and once i figure out how to move this thread itll be posted in the proper place. thanks for any help in advance guys. last question for now. in regards to the transfer case on the 60e. im under the assumption it will bolt up to the 80e but i kind of look at it like this: if the tranny isnt worth using why would the transfer case be any different. should i use the transfer i already have or should i get the one that comes on the 80e to begin with?

I'd use the 80e t-case if it doesnt mess with your 4x4 activation. If it does, the 4l80e output can be changed to match the t-case you hav now.

With big tires big gears are a must.
