Hey guys. Stopping in to say hi

How's its going. My name is Rich. Im from Modesto CA - yes the home of Scott Peterson..........

    I currently drive an 05 silverado 4x4 quad cab 1/2 ton 5.3

Truck has 12" Cognito suspension lift
    Numerous steering and suspension upgrades
    4.88 gears front and back
    Truetrac rear dif
    Diablo tune

So far I have been happy but I am not starting to consider doing a cam swap and a few other mods to pick up some more HP. I would be happy if I could pull 50hp more out of this motor. I have to deal with CA smog laws so I either have to go mild and still pass smog or just plan on changing it back when I need to smog. So far I havent had to smog the truck since new.

Anyways I'm off to search for information. Look forward to talking with all of you after I cant find any more info on the site! I use the search function before posting repeat questions..........

    Thanks!

Welcome! If you have to deal with smog... you'll have to keep fairly factory exhaust most likely, which means no headers (MAYBE SHORTIES) or removing cats. You could opt for a mild cam and a tune (a real one, not DSP), which could pull anywhere from 20-40 hp out of it. Also, you can do simple bolt ons like pulleys and CAI.

I have family in Modesto! They own a body shop out there....you may have heard of it Burnside Bodyshop. Your truck looks sweet man...it actually looks really familiar.

+1 with Justin. California sucks big time for modding.
Look into getting a custom tune and ditch that diablo.

What about getting the custom tune with the diablo? I know they can do a tune on the dyno and log the program to my handheld. I figure a custom full dyno tune would be the best.

Indeed they can do that. However IMO a custom tune with HPTuners would be significantly better than a diablo tune.
