Bigger Tires

Originally I had 235/75/16 on my 04 Silverado. I've recently put on 255/70/16, and just like most things, I want to go bigger. I'm thinking about 275 or 285 tires. One thing I'm worried about is how much it will throw off the odometer and mileage. The other thing is, what size profile. I don't want it to look like a rubber band around the wheels. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

285 50 16 what kinda tire are you wanting to run? Performance, A/T, M/T just looking for a little more info.

A/T. I live in a rural area and want something a little more beefy.

265/75's are a good size for these trucks, didn't throw the speedo off either. for an A/T look into the terra grapplers

a 265/75 MIGHT rub a little if yours is 2wd

with a small lift you can get 285/75s

with a bigger lift you can get 315/75s

I have a 2" level on the front and it is a 2WD

you should be fine with the 265's then. Any bigger you'll need an actual lift (body or suspension)


I had 265's on mine completely stock and the front would rub at full turn a tad when tires were new. Leveled out you'll be fine.

Buddys dad had a leveling kit and went 285, rubbed BAD, so he thru a body lift on it.

Well, I found a guy on Craigslist that was selling his 2009 Tahoe wheels. He drove it from the dealer to a wheels shop, had the factory wheels and tires replaced, and the factory wheels and tires have been sitting in his garage for about a month. Brand new wheels and brand new tires for $500. I almost feel guilty. LOL Ended up selling my old wheels and tires for $450. $50 isn't bad for what I was wanting. The tires are 265/70/17 Goodyear Wrangler HP's. If you look at my signature pic or profile pic, you can see them.
