depending on youre power level and weight of vehicle i would seriously weigh the pros and cons. From my experience the weight of my truck and the power i made it was extremely hard to flat shift it. When i did i broke the trans every time. I dont run a stock trans either. Mine was the Viper spec version from D&D perfromance.

keeping vehicle in drive wont lock the door locks after 20mph also not sure if cruise will work either. i removed all wiring form mine and just did it as a manual only style wiring. my gauge cluster is stuck in GM's default setting of 2

you need crossmember from a 5 speed truck of same year, ou need pedal assembly from 5 speed truck, you need to make a nut plate for fire wall, you can get a master cylinder from any GMT800 truck. you use a stock 4L60 auto driveshaft, you use master from a 02 LS6, use clutch from fbody and youll have to make youre own shift rod

it ain't that I'm too big to listen to the rumors, It's just that I'm too damn big to pay attention to 'em..That's the difference

what about a ZF-6 transmission if they can handle a modified duramax they shouldn't have a problem with what mild to even wild LS puts out.
    Step 1. crus at it.
    Step 2. get a hammer.
    Step 3. torch it.

not a performance tranny. youre talking about a truck tranny vs a performance trans.

dmax is only mid 300 hp and mid 500 torque

for one, if you wanna keep 4x4, you'll have to custom fab a tailhousing for the T-56 or run a divorced case.

second, 4.10 rear might not be enough. i've seen a guy keep 3.73s, but most go to something around 4.56 or 4.88s & i've seen one guy run 5.33s since he kept his taller tires (32s or 33s i think). the T-56 from an fbody has a 2.66 first gear so you'll want some rear to compensate or it'll be a bit harder on the clutch.

third - (for whoever suggested the ZF S6-650) i believe it requires a 2-3" body lift to fit under the cab. not to mention it has crazy low 1st gear (5.79:1) and weighs around 200lbs. it also requires some fab work to use in a half ton truck

fourth - if you plan on towing with the T-56, you might wanna pass on anything bigger than a jet ski.
00 FRC - just top end, exhaust, and a hot-air intake

As cool as the t56 swap sounds, it makes yor truck rather useless as a truck

    i'm assuming a t-56 is the 6spd found in fbodys/vetters.

If that is the case, you hear A LOT more stories of autos breaking then stick shifts. Guy that comes into my work all the time has a SSS, vette, z28, etc...says the vette with stick has most mods, and only one he hasn't blown the trans in.

I realize weight is different, but hp/torq should be very similar, so if autos break with less weight...the sticks MIGHT be more dependable.
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
