Hey Guys ! Any of you done any old truck swaping with a 4.8-5.3-LS-1 ??? Seems like most of you like to take the easy way out. Get a new truck and hop it up. Its the easiest. But pride comes in when you have one say over 35 year old. And you yourself tore it apart and built it frame up. Don't say you can't. Thats the easy way out. I did mine by myself a year ago and I am a gurl. Everything but the machine work on the motor and the painting of the truck I did. Now I have taken out the 350 and replacing it with a 1999 5.3 motor and trans. Its not running yet,but it will be soon. I have the orginal 5.3 wiring harness, but I think I will get someone to rework it to a stand alone. Also the computer. Any of you guys done a old chevy. Mines a 1972 Chevy p.u. Mostlikey its older then most of you are. LOL !!
Its a lot older then me. But if by chance you have,I like to hear from you. Like the others in here, always got questions on it. I would be grateful for any info that you may offer. Thanks Tracy !

    Hi Tracy,

I'm one of the "new truck" guys you were referring to. Other than a good tune not really looking to hop things up that much, just make things better where GM didn't. Maybe will find a nice OBS someday and do a swap myself, who knows. For now, I just get alot of enjoyment checking out this forum and interacting w/ the folks here! Hope you do too

No doubt there's plenty of experts here who can help out w/ your swap.

BTW, your '72 Chevy is more than a decade YOUNGER than i am, sorry to say

Good luck. Welcome to the forum

My born-on date is 64 so that truck is quite younger than me.

    Welcome!

I know what you mean about the old truck thing. BTW I'm not as old as the other two, but still 4 years older than your '72 truck. My truck is however 9 years newer than yours LOL! This sounds like those word problems in algebra class. Ask all the questions you like! Have a good one.

I am sure she did not mean to offend us young farts... 5 yrs younger than your truck . Someone here has to have swapped new engines into the 60's to 74 bodies.

All I can say is WOW GUYS ! Let me see I count 6 responses in less then one day. Thats so cool, and a nice welcome. I can see I will enjoy connecting to this forum. I can't say I will everyday or I can't say I will post a lot. But when I get the time, I will read what you guys in the LS1Truck Forum have to say. Maybe even make a dum question or comment now and then. I been to some truck forums, and check back a month later and still no response to my post. Well I will close for now,but since I know people respond in this forum. I will ad my input, and questions too. LOV YA TRACY !!

Yeah, we are a bunch of guys that love to talk about our trucks and steer others in the right direction if we can. We know what works for us and we aren't afraid to speak our minds. We try not to offend anyone but will poke fun at one-another now and again. Welcome to the number one shop in "Nelson Country".

1st thing you want to do is get a good tuned 02 pcm from Allen Nelson and some larger injectors for that 99.
