    Newbie with 2001 4.8 gmc possible 13.0?

Ok so i bought this 2001 Gmc s/b s/c with 4.8 4l60e and whatever rear these trucks come with.

Its got like 200k motor is beat.

My Goal is like 13.0 with the truck. Its got performance rebuilt 4l60e allready in it. The i was most likely thinking 4:10 Gears. I didnt wanna be much bigger than like 2600-3000 converter unless.

My engine is the issue. I dont know anything bout these motors. I how ever have a 1998 LS1 in the garage. I have HP tuner from my other car.

What would i need to get into the 13.0 range with the trans/rear/converter i mentioned and definetly what motor or is this motor capable of it.

if the 98 is in good condition, put the long block in there with the truck externals. That would get you into the 13s most likely. Otherwise go for a LQ9 if you can find one for a decent price. Get the LQ4 otherwise.
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709

If you can hook and launch, the LS1 will get you close if not just into the upper 13's. Tale of the tape, a stock TBSS 2WD is a 13.8 @~99 mph truck with 395HP, stock 4.10's, about the same weight, and a 2.0 60'. It's a 13.5 truck with more converter, and slicks.
13.0 on a 4600# (guesstimate) truck is in the 475+ HP range. With some work, you can get the LS1 into the 425 range and still be reliable-streetable (your definition of streetable may be more or less aggressive than mine), and not kill all the torque.

How many miles does the ls1 have?

If far less Id take the truck externals and put on the ls1 block AS red stated

Maybe throw a 220/220 cam in there and I think you will be close to your goal.
