Okay determined it is a speaker going out in the driver's side door. Went by an audio installation place and the guy qouted me $200 to replace the front and rear door speakers with Diamond or something Vega. First is this price good for the components and instal? 2nd which of the 2 is the better? 3rd will either speaker soound good hooked to the factory radio? 4th is it better to replace both the speaker and the tweeter as a set? I can do the instal myself to save some bucks, but I do not know how to remove the door covr as of yet since i have not looked into it. Other priorities...

Diamond. and cerwin vega. Diamond IMO and the price sounds really good if that ford components. It will sound better if you do an aftermarket head unit. But components powered by a highs amp is hard to beat.

Door panels are easy. May not save much though.

definitely diamond. hands down, no comparison. unless you get some of the $1500 a pair mb quarts. get some d6 components and an amp to power them, I promise you will not be disappointed. I am installing a set in an 04 dodge this weekend, I cant wait to hear them, its been so long since Ive installed a set.

If you have Bose & On-Star and you do a full system replacement(4 channel) you will lose the door chime. The door chime is produced in the amp inside the center console, and nobody that I know of has a Bose/On-Star interface with the external chime. I went through Crutchfield and they told me to wire and extra speaker to the drivers door output in the center console. I believe the adapter I bought was a GMOS-04.

Right now I am just looking to replace the door speakers and a head unit later. That is why I was asking which of the 2 brands would someone recommend with a stock radio... not the Bose system. And I do believe for that price it was the speakers and tweeters.
