    5.3 bored to LS1 Specs

    Hey guys wuz up I really dont post that often im more of a reader but I have a few questions and see if i could get some help. Well the 5.3 on my GMC started knocking and ready to pull it out. Well i have a ls1 rotating assembly with about 80k on it and want to get my 5.3 bored out to ls1 specs. Has anyone ever tried this before?


    Oh mods on my 2003 excab GMC are the Thunder Racing 224 cam,pacesetter LT,efans,TB2600,cai,LS1 intake manifold,miled and self ported heads,and Flaco Tune...

    My buddy did it on his 2002 2wd (forged) and loves it. He is running about 10# on his SC and has had no problems. He DD it and beats the piss out of it everyday.

    Guy at the dyno day with a good cam on motor did 376 to the ground I think. If that answers your n/a question

    Well if it helps any the white truck in the vid had a 5.3 made into an HKE forged 346.

    I'm having mine bored out right now and putting forged internals in it. Should be pretty nice! You'll have to get some new heads for it though. I'm running 317's since I'm FI but you could get some different ones depending on the CR you want.

    2004 Silverado Crew Cab, forged iron 5.7, STS w/MP turbo, 10+ psi, FMIC, Tial 50mm BOV, Vic Jr, Snow performance meth, MTI Stealth cam .220/.220 .581/.581 115lsa, Comp chromoly pushrods, Yank TT3000 stall, LS1 Efans, 160 tstat, Trucool 40k trans cooler, 60# injectors, Walbro fuel pump, Patriot springs, Built 4l65E w/billet input & output shafts, Eaton posi, SD tuned...all installed by Klein North Automotive

    Get the block checked to ensure the cylinder walls are thick enough. Most blocks are fine, but occasionally one will have walls that are to thin.

    Damn thats preety good is that with the stock ls1 pistons or aftermarket?

    Well i was planning on staying with my 706 heads that way i would have a thighter chamber and probably mill em 0.030 and a mild port. That way they think its still a 5.3

    ill find the guy that had the black truck and put down i think it was high 300's (like previously stated)... he seemed like a pretty cool guy and had a really nice truck...

    i think his was a 5.3 bored to 5.7, cam and bolt ons... no clue on heads.... but put down some pretty stout N/A numbers
