Here's a monkey wrench... A "true street truck" shows up and runs too fast without proper safety equipment and gets the boot from the officials. There will not be 16 "competitive" trucks to compete in the shootout... On a side note... There is alot of fast trucks out there. I believe 11.50 will be the cut for this shootout and hopefully those guys are up to par on safety to prevent getting the boot.

Passing tech and safety is a given, at least it should be.
If you know your truck runs XX and you don't have the correct equipment, too bad imo.
The track will not let anyone run that doesn't have the required equipment.
That'll be another rule i guess.
