Can the wiring harnesses from the 02' 5.3L trucks be used on a 6.0L? I have a 02 Lq4 and i found an engine wiring harness, dash harness and guages for 100.00. Can i use that harness or do i have to find a 6.0l specific harness? Also what ecm do i need? I have never done an ls1 swap before and i got a good deal on a lq4. I know its not the HO lq9 but its a start. I can always upgrade to better heads and cam later on, or maybe just a turbo. I am swaping this into my 91' rcsb and i was going to use the newer model guages and build a custom dash for it. For those of you wondering why im getting a dash harness and guages too. I hate my 85 MPH speedometer. Will an AC delco mu146 fuel pump work for the swap? Does anyone have any sugestions about how to get away without notching my frame for the a/c? Are the S&P brackets the only way to go? I still dont have the accessories just yet. I have an 85mm Getrag 5 speed transmission with the external slave. Can i bolt my 5 speed transmission to the new engine and use it till i blow it up or do i need a gen III specific transmission. I was going to do a t-56 swap later when i get more money saved. If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated

The 5.3 wiring harness will work fine on your 6.0 motor. The PCMs from 99-02 are the same hardware with different operating systems and calibrations on them. Get a PCM from an 02 model year truck (4.8, 5.3, or 6.0 engine) to be safe. Then you can have a programmer flash the correct operating system for your application (engine size, year, and transmission) plus do any customizations (VATS delete) that you may need.

What I'm in the process of right now is modifying an 88-92 TPI AC compressor bracket to work on my 6.0L so I can use my stock 95 AC compressor in the stock location. You have to ditch the EGR valve and get the car water pump so the water outlet doesn't come out the top. I haven't finished the supporting bracketry yet, but hopefully it will work out well in the end. You have to use the existing tensioner as an idler pulley and use the TPI tensioner as the "real" tensioner in this setup. Its kind of a wierd setup and I would much rather have the LS1 compressor and custom lines, but that would require some major work on my 4WD truck.

I made my own motor mounts out of 1/4" hot rolled steel.

I'm not completely sure of the differences between the LS1 style and SBC style transmission mount, but it seems you need a transmission designed for the new style engine. Grab an F-body trans from a wreck.

Oh on the gauges, be aware that most of the idiot lights on the cluster are operated by messages on the class 2 data bus generated by different modules on the network. I'm pretty sure the brake warning light is illuminated in this manner by the brake control module, as is the seat belt light, etc. Something to look out for.

Any more questions, I am almost done my swap and several others on this site have done similiar projects. I am hoping for a nice truck in a week or so!

    Yea what PSWIRED said lol.

On the gauges man that's gonna be a lot a fab'n to get a 02 cluster work in a 91. I was looking at that possibility on my 89 cuz I had the cluster out of my 04 donor but there wasn't any way I thought it would fit in there cuz the newer clusters are way wider. But more power to you if you can get it shoe horned in there. I've got a lot of pics on my site you can look at that may help you out.

Hey PSWIRED you got anymore pics of that bracket assembly your fab'n up? You can just email them to me if you do. Thanks.
