LQ9 Bottom End Rebuild or Shortblock?

I am in need of having my bottom end rebuilt or replaced. Where is the best place to have this done on a budget? I'm not going with forged parts or anything, just going back to stock. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Well respected local engine rebuilder.

always get engine built local if you can.
That way you have someone to go back to if problems.

Hard to crate up an engine and send it back for "warranty" work

The only local people I would trust would be the dealership. I live in a pretty rural area and I guess that is my only option. Or do it myself

    definitely wouldnt use the stealership.

There are no performance engine builders with-in 1-2 hour drive ?
2hr drive would suck, but only gonna have to do it couple of times.

That may be an option too. Are there any companies or shops that build shortblocks at reasonable prices?
