silverado 4.8L what do i need for a cam swap?

I have had my 07 "new body style" silverado 1500 for about a year and a half now and she is bone stock besides dumped 7" in the rear and 6" in the front but i want to do a cam to let it flow a little better, and we all know it sounds great. i was thinking a Thunder Racing 220/112. the truck is just a toy so i have plenty of time to do it right.

Upgrade Your Valve Springs,i Used Stock Pushrods, get The Ls7 Cam Sprocket And 3 Bolts.thats All You Will Need Besides Tuning.if you get a one bolt cam,you wont need the sprocket,u re use the original.

ok so all i need in a nut shell is my cam of choice with a single bolt to utilize the stock cam sprocket, valve springs, and Gaskets and thats all? is there any hidden problem i might run into. im kinda a newbie to a V8. i have a built and blown VR6 VW Gti thats been my project for the past year. very very sad when a 2.8l puts down 120WHP more than a 4.8l.

nope, cam swaps are easy.u can re use the gaskets as well,i did.

get that cam, longtubes, intake, pulley and magnaflow exhaust.gears would help alot too,4.10 in my opinion.last but not least a NELSON tune.

after all that you'll be spanking that 4banger.

thats the cam i have, that is a very good choice. Like the other guy said though replace springs, and push rods, and deffinetly get a better flowing exhaust. And another thing, you can run your stock converter for a while but with that cam you will need at least a 3k stall, trust me. Good luck, if you have any questions let us no. nick

Quick question, i have a 2008 silverado LS 4.8L, just got the truck back from the dealer said the Camshaft and lifter need to be replaced to due cylinder 7 misfire, said all the ignition coils and other things like cylinder compression were all good they lifted the valve cover and noticed a collapsed lifter if that makes any sense, anyway i usually like to work on my own stuff is this something of a fix that you would recommend a intermediate mechanic to try himself?

If you are a decent mechanic that isnt too hard of a fix. And would give you a chance to do a good bit of upgrades if you were willing. A cam kit from thunder racing or tsp... Which would come with new springs, new pushrods, cam, and a crank bolt. Pull the heads. IF you had the money you could get them cleaned up with some pnp. While they are out replace all the lifters with the ls7 replacements. With heads out of the truck it will also be far easier to put the aftermarket springs on. Throw in your new cam. Put some arp head bolts on for good measure and done....
To the OP that is a good cam in the 4.8. Id couple it with a 3600 stall. Good bolt on and gears. Set up should be good for 13s.

Ls1, Pnp heads, Polluter camshaft, spray, 4k stall on the way

thanks for the advice, what does "OP" stand for and what do you mean by " couple it with a 3600 stall. Good bolt on and gears. Set up should be good for 13s" and ive been reading that after you swap out the cam you need to get it tuned?
