actually there is not that much difference between the basic rca's and the expensive ones. It's all in the components dude. if you got junk subs, junk amp, junk head unit, high dollar rca's aren't going to help. Likewise, if you good amps, good speakers/subs, and a good headunit, cheap rca's aren't going to hurt you. It's all just a money making gimmick. There is however, a difference between rca's used for home and the ones used for mobile.

    Whoa whoa whoa.
You are trying to say a cable that is made of better conductive material with little or no imperfections is going to perform the same as a cable with higher resistance and worse conductivity (not to mention probably crappy termination at connections,) I wouldnt bet the farm on that....

I have installed plenty of systems with $100+ sets of RCAs and more systems with the regular, run of the mill $30 base mobile RCA cables on the same components and have never heard a difference. Of course I have the expensive stuff in my truck because I employee purchased them for a small fraction of what they cost anyone else. FYI even the cheaper mobile RCAs are copper wire with gold plated terminals and actually have thicker wiring than some of the more expensive ones. Twisting wires doesn't make that much difference, sorry, you got jipped.

Yeah I can agree with you on the twisting, mere marketing item.
But like you I have been in Car audio for some time, since 93. Just because its copper doesnt make it good cable grain quality of that copper could be crap. Take your average bulk purchase cable and measure resistance on it, then take whatever higher cable you offer in the same length and see what happens. I think we owuld both agree less resistance in cabling is going to be better correct?

But the question remains if you are sure of what you say why would you foot the extra cash for the higher end units knowing you could get the other cheaper and not notice a difference, just jipping yourself

If there is a difference in sound with using higher end cables over bulk, it's not enough that the average person is going to notice the difference. I bought the expensive amps, speakers, deck, and subs because they are the brands I like. They have sound quality and volume over anything else I have ever heard. As far as the cables I bought, they were a total of about $10 more than bulk stuff for me so why not? Even as an audiophile I have never noticed any real difference over using the $100 monster cables or $100 rockford dual twist over the Rockford bulk RCA's that I used to install.
