Thread: Need a rec on a back up camera.

  1. #1

Need a rec on a back up camera.

Well I am finally gonna buy one since It hurts like absolute hell to twist and look behind me. I already have a In Dash DVD player that it will plug right into . I just dont like the cheesy license plate cameras. I would like it to see the trailer coupling and what ever else is behind me. Any ideas on mounting and what camera to buy is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

i am planning on having a rear mounted camera also but it will be thru a computer which makes it more complicated.

i would like to see what everyone else has though and how their systems work.

When I was installing we did a lot of them that were a "bullet-style" camera that you could drill a hole and mount in the license plate. We did one on a factory hitch and set it inside the hole that sits right above the receiver. You could see the ball perfectly, it also had a clear view to all of the surroundings.

For the life of me I can't remember the brand of it but when I was at Ford, we installed one in the tailgate handle, they have locking tailgates, the guy never used this feature so the locking mechanism was trashed and a little bit of work the camera fit in there nicely.

I have one of those locking tail gate things that i never use. Could you see the hitch ball from the screen with it mounted that high?

I ordered a bullet style camera from ebay.

No couldn't see the hitch, there was about a foot and a half of blind spot. This truck would've never seen a trailer, I honestly didn't get the point of the camera but what the customer wants....
