getting bigger speakers

nah, cut the rears for 6.5, I promise you will not be disappointed. You will be amazed at how much sound actually comes from the rear with a decent set of 6.5s. I ran the base model Eclipse 6.5s in all 4 corners in my white truck on a Rockford Power 400.4 with the crossover set at 400hz and it would scream like nobody's business. I've done components up front in some trucks and cut out the rears completely and it did sound alright. There is nothing at all wrong with doing it that way, you just lose some sound that you could still have with a better speaker in the rear. I don't know why they decided to use the cruddy 4x6's anyway. oval speakers are all turds.

You'd be amazed how much more sound quality comes out of the front speakers when you have the extra budget for them. Do you ever go to a concert and listen to the music by turning away from the band? 99% of all music is recorded in 2 channel.

Even if you already have front speakers it would be MUCH more worth your money to buy sound deadening for the front doors with the money you were going to use for the rear speakers

here is an idear. run the setup similar to what I had in my white Z. fully dynamatted front and rear doors, 6.5's in all 4 doors, only go the extra mile and put two sets of components in the front doors instead of one set of coax's. Now that's gangsta! I've always wanted to do one that way.

u read my mind i was gonna install some kick panel pods for component and well i already have components in the doors and when i first got the truck i had removed the carpet for cleaning and to install my speakers and i did the sound deadener aswell i also have a 8' kicker l7 in the center console

One thing I've always thought about doing too is using the screens on the front doors. using them as a skeleton for some fiberglass pods to hold two sets of components. of course it would be easier and less cluttered with convertibles. trim out the door panel behind the screen, fiberglass the screens and add some contour and flush the speakers in, It would look pretty G. Then you wouldn't have to worry about kicking them in the kick panels, ya know, passengers don't always care about your stuff like you do.

thats ture i had seen a pics of some guys build and it was somthing just like you said just cant find the link now im really wanting to do that plus i have a extra door panels from a truck i got from the junk yard

right on, that's probably how I will do mine one of these days, I just hate fiberglass. The next stereo mod though is the Diamond convertibles in the front and rear doors. The original owner of my truck put some MTX convertibles in the front and I dont like them. Diamonds are way louder and clearer.

i was just checking out those Diamond Audio speakers they look sweet i have heard of the brand just never seen them here in Laredo its a boring a** town im gonna have to look into those speakers right now i have MB Quart and i also got a set of infinity kappas

The diamonds are pretty close if not better than the quarts. The shop I used to install for stopped selling MB Quart to carry Diamond if that tells you anything. They were some of the best sounding and loudest speakers I have ever installed whether it be the coax's, subs, or component sets. The only problem with them is, I think you can only get them from certified retailers.

what do you think should i go with 2 sets of 6.5 or 1 set of 6.5 and 1 set of 5.25 ?
